I loved it so much, its just when it rubs you wrong, it affects your feeling about the story. I would've given it a five had it not been for that. It may not be as obvious to non-black latinx folx, but you can always tell by the description tags when an author isn't black. As an afro-latinx person, I totally understand our culture does blend a number of cultures, but a lot of the black people were in passing, had skin described as food or night, or were kind of magical negros(I'm sure it wasn't intentional). ![]() ![]() Alex even went as far to say she was plain because she had brown eyes. Nova had blue-green eyes, and his features were often described with much more flattering tags than brown eyes and skin. The parts I struggled with only centered on the way eurocentric features were exhaulted over the latter. It was also cool that she was reluctant to be a receiver of her great power, and wasn't just "ready" like a bunch of ya books. I adored that Alex, the mc, was bisexual and liked both her love interests were of color, despite one of them being passing. I loved that it was a story by, for and centered on latinx culture. I loved it, but I admit I struggled with some parts. ![]() ![]() He achieved great success as a writer and public speaker. ![]() ![]() While a reporter, he wrote a humorous story, "The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County," which proved to be very popular and brought him nationwide attention. Celebrating the offices of the canonical day itself was an arduous, time-consuming, and endless cycle. The routine of the abbey day seems designed to deaden rather than awaken intellectual curiosity. It is, in fact, for his monumental Ecclesiastical History of the English People that Bede is best remembered. While many of his 60 works are biblical commentaries, he also wrote on natural history, science, poetry, and history. Certainly, Bede's intellectual range went much further than the Bible itself. In truth, the humble monk's studies encompassed a wide range of disciplines, including astronomy, classical languages, medicine, and seemingly everything else his imagination and resources would allow. I have spent all the remainder of my life in this monastery and devoted myself entirely to the study of Scriptures. 'I was born on the lands of the monastery, he later wrote, and on reaching seven years of age, I was entrusted by my family first to the reverend Abbot Benedict and later to Abbot Ceolfrith for my education. Similar to Nathaniel Parker, Fox is very versatile, handling both the comedic and serious elements of the play tremendously well. Barber is outstanding in this role, creating a very convincing characterisation. As the Chilterns' best friend and confidant Viscount Goring is Freddie Fox. Portraying the play's main antagonist Mrs. Bretton is tremendously believable as Lady Chiltern, and seemed rather well-suited to the character. Portraying Lady Chiltern, the strong and moral wife of Robert Chiltern, is Sally Bretton. Throughout the play, Parker is able to provide an exceedingly powerful portrayal. Parker excels at both the comedic elements of the play, as well the more serious moments, demonstrating his versatility as an actor. In the leading role of Sir Robert Chiltern is Nathaniel Parker, a performer who is visibly very skilled. There were no weak links amongst the cast whatsoever and some extremely powerful performances were provided. This production has been very wall cast all of the cast members within the show seem very well suited to their individual parts. The strongest aspect of An Ideal Husband is, undoubtedly, its phenomenal cast. ![]() ![]() They are the heart and soul of this book.
